Bursting with red fruit flavours such as plum, rhubarb and cranberry this Pinot Noir from Giffords Hall is a rare find amongst English wine. With the UK disrupting the wine world with its Sparklings, Rosés and Whites, a classic English Red can be hard to find. Well not any more – at Barbury Hill we have discovered a gem and believe this Pinot Noir deserves to be recognised.
Named in honour of St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Giffords Hall’s hometown, Bury St Edmunds, the Cathedral was once known for its abundance of vines which grew within the Abbey walls. In medieval times over a third of the Tithe was paid out in large casks of wine to Rome and even today, Giffords Hall keep history alive and supply Pinot Noir to the Vatican.
